Illinois Valley Times

There were four offenders living in Bureau County released on parole during the third quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Illinois Valley Times.

The data shows two men and two women were released in Bureau County. The median age of the parolees was 29. The youngest parolee was a 22-year-old man sentenced for a crime against a person in 2021, and the oldest was a 49-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving drugs in 2017.

The offender incarcerated the longest was Louie Z. Shaw. He was convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2017 when he was 44 years old. He is now 49.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
