City of Peru Public Works Committee met Sept. 18.

PLACE OF MEETING: Peru Municipal Building 1901 4th Street, Peru, IL 61354

ROLL CALL: Chairman, Aldermen Lukosus, Sapienza, Ballard and Moreno present.

MINUTES

Alderman Sapienza made a motion to approve the Public Works Committee Minutes of September 5, 2023. Alderman Ballard seconded the motion; motion carried.

AIRPORT

Mayor Kolowski and Alderman Lukosus reported they attended a retirement event for Chuck Studer.

BUILDING & GROUNDS

None

STREETS & ALLEY

PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King initiated a discussion regarding purchase of used 3-ton 2009 International 7400 plow truck from in the amount of $29,876.00 with 37141 miles. ($29,876.00- $1,000 down payment = $28,876.00). Committee referred to next regular meeting for approval.

ELECTRIC

Electric Department Operations Manager Kevin Minnick initiated a discussion of need to replace one of the aerial lift bucket trucks (E302). Alderman Lukosus made a motion to approve getting bids for the replacement of one aerial lift truck (E202 bucket truck replacement). Alderman Ballard seconded the motion. Clerk Bartley called the roll with Aldermen Lukosus, Sapienza, Ballard and Moreno voting aye; motion carried.

ENGINEERING

Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning provided the following updates:

• Master Builder Way project underway

• Working on punch list for utility extension

• Finalizing bid specs for Rt. 6 Water Main

• Closing out St. John’s 2nd Addition and NE Water Main projects

• Proposing new language to ensure proper landscaping restorations

o Retainage clause

CLOSED SESSION

Alderman Lukosus made a motion to go into closed session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity; meetings where the purchase or lease of real property for the use of the public body is considered, including meetings held for the purpose of discussing whether a particular parcel should be acquired or where setting of the price for sale or lease of real estate owned by the public body is being considered; meetings on collective negotiating matters between the public body and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. Alderman Sapienza seconded the motion. Clerk Bartley called the roll with Aldermen Lukosus, Sapienza, Ballard and Moreno voting aye; motion carried.

Closed session began at 3:54 p.m. and ended at 4:24 p.m.

Alderman Lukosus made a motion to reopen the meeting. Alderman Ballard seconded the motion.

ADJOURNMENT

Alderman Lukosus made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Alderman Sapienza seconded the motion; motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 4:25 p.m.
