City of Ottawa City Council met Dec. 19.

Present: Mayor Robert Hasty, Commissioners Wayne A. Eichelkraut Jr., Thomas G. Ganiere, Marla K. Pearson and Brent F. Barron.

Commissioner Eichelkraut presented minutes of previous meeting.
Moved by Commissioner Eichelkraut that the minutes of a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Ottawa, Illinois, held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, be approved as recorded in the permanent files of the City Clerk.

A public hearing was held for the $1,247,792.00 Public Infrastructure and $650,000.00
Housing Rehabilitation Construction Grants. Staff from NCICG, including Connie Buchanan, Richard Norwood and Kevin Lindeman explained the criteria for both grants.
With no one from the public commenting, the hearings were declared closed at 7:15 p.m.
A public hearing was held next on the Tax Levy. Finance Commissioner Wayne Eichelkraut and City Treasurer Don Harris explained the components of the levy. With no one publicly commenting, the public hearing was declared closed at 7:18 p.m.
Commissioner Eichelkraut presented Biweekly Salary Payroll.
Moved by Commissioner Eichelkraut that the Biweekly Salary Payroll of December 8, 2023, in the amount of $565,242.81, be approved and warrants issued.

Commissioner Eichelkraut presented Ordinance.
Moved by Commissioner Eichelkraut that an Ordinance levying taxes in the City of Ottawa, LaSalle County, Illinois, for the fiscal year beginning May 1, 2023, and ending April 30, 2024, and authorizing the City Clerk of the City of Ottawa to certify to the County Clerk of LaSalle County, Illinois, the several amounts required to be raised by taxation for the corporate purposes of said City for said fiscal year, which has been on file for public inspection since December 5, 2023, be passed and approved.
