Finance Director John Duncan discussed the recommendation regarding the purchase of office furniture for the City Hall and the Police Department. These are items that were not appropriated for. This was something that was on the radar to be done, but since the roof project and the water damage that was done to the second floor, this expedited the improvements that were needed to be made. The city went out for pricing for this furniture.

This will include furniture for second floor offices and for the administrative office in the police department. Duncan mentioned that they went out for a proposal from the company that they dealt with a couple years ago for the first-floor furniture. Duncan stated that the city had planned to do some work on the city hall building but they plan to swap those items out for the purchase of the furniture.

Chairman Ptak asked if the furniture would be covered by insurance because of water damage.

Duncan mentioned that the furniture was not covered but the walls, drywall, and flooring were covered. He mentioned that most of the furniture was not damaged. He also mentioned that he will expend each of the office furniture items from each department. There is not a local office furniture supply dealer so the city went out for proposal from a company in Peoria that the city had used a few years ago. This vote will need a super majority to approve this recommendation.

The police department proposal was $5,686.48 and the City Hall proposal was $25,247.75 from Hendrickson’s Peoria. This will be a total little over $30,000.00.

Alderman Lavieri asked if they should wait till May 1 to appropriate this into the budget.

Chairman Ptak reminded him that they are flip flopping some numbers to make this work. They are putting off some work that was appropriated for this budget and using that money for the furniture.

Moved by Alderman Jeppson and seconded by Alderman Reynolds to accept the recommendation regarding the purchase of office furniture for City Hall and the Police Department from Hendrickson’s Peoria.

NEW BUSINESS

Deputy Clerk Bader mentioned that the Council chambers now have cameras in the room, and it is being video recorded. Computer Spa, the City’s IT coordinator, was unable to livestream tonight’s meeting but should be ready to go for the next meeting in two weeks. City had to purchase one additional camera along with the two that were already planned for. The third camera allows for a full camera view of the chambers. The city does not have the actual YouTube name currently but will share and post when they have their actual YouTube Channel name.

There were no more questions or comments from the public.

Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Jeppson to adjourn the meeting.
