FOIA Request to City of Earlville Regarding Newly Registered Businesses on May 7, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Illinois Valley Times have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Earlville. This request seeks access to records concerning businesses registered with the city in the past week. Specifically, we are requesting information that includes the following fields: Business Name, Business Number, Business Type, Business Address, Issued Date, Status, and Registered Agent Name.

Our aim is to ensure transparency and accountability within public institutions by obtaining these records. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We believe this information will help us hold public institutions accountable and provide valuable insights into local business activities.

Additionally, we have requested a fee waiver for this information as media professionals. Our efforts are supported by The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Missouri Corporation dedicated to assisting news media companies and public advocacy groups in investigating state and federal governmental agencies. Through leveraging Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws, we strive to inform the American electorate by shedding light on government actions.
